Range of Experience


My name is Lesley Reed BA (Hons) BSc (Hons). I am the founder of Language-for-Life. I completed 4 years of Speech and Language Therapy Training at Curtin University of Technology, Australia. Prior to that, I completed a 3 year BA (Hons) course in English Literature at Reading University, UK, worked as an Assistant Editor for a business-to-business publication and in marketing for an environmental consultancy.

During my career as a Speech and Language Therapist I have worked with a wide range of clients in a wide range of settings. My client base has included children with special needs and physical disability, adults with learning disability and adults with communication difficulties following neurological injury. I have assessed and treated clients at home, at school, in health clinics, hospitals and in the community. Over the past 7 years I have been working exclusively with pre-school and school-aged children aged from 2 to 14 in the South London area..

In my work with children, I have worked with many forms of difficulty, disability, disorder and syndrome. These include children with Speech Sound Difficulties, Stammers, Language Delay, Language Disorder, Autism, Aspergers Syndrome, Specific Language Impairment, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia, Dysarthria, Williams Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, ADHD and ADD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder respectively).
